Our Staff

Senior Pastor, Dr. Michael Shy

Mike has been the pastor of East Side since 1992.  He grew up outside St. Louis and came to the Lord as a teenager.  He met his wife, Kathye, in Ft. Worth while attending seminary.  Brother Mike has a bachelor's degree in psychology, a master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministries degree.  He is also a North American Mission Board volunteer chaplain with the Sheriff's Department and serves as a reserve officer. 

 

Associate Pastor, Darrell DeBoard

Darrell serves as the Education and Administration Pastor.  Darrell and Judy are from Texas by way of Colorado and Ohio.  He attended Baylor University; has a major in Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University and majors in Biblical Studies and Counseling from Criswell College.  Darrell has a burden to see people come to know Christ and to embark on a journey of discipleship.  Darrell’s goal is to see every adult attending an Adult Bible Study class.  “The more we know about God and how to apply His word, the better we can enjoy the “abundant life” on earth.  

 

Minister of Music, Sunnydale Hyde

Sunnydale served twelve years in the Army.  Drawing from a background of music education, Middle Eastern linguistic and Biblical studies, he is constantly moved to help drive the church in love of the Lord and of people.  Though he was born in Lubbock, Texas, he grew up in North Louisiana and answered the Creator's call during his tenure in the Army.  He has four children - Annabella, Adrienne, Sunnydale Jr. (SD2), and Abigale.  His hobbies include fishing, hunting, painting, and studying Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic.  His wife - the crown of his head, Melody, runs a small family business, plays the piano and drums, and can often be found near her husband.  The purpose of the music ministry is to bring glory and honor to the Creator of all Creation not only through song, but through selfless service as well. 

 

Minister to Students, Zack Holder

Zack grew up in Wolfforth, Texas, a little town just outside of Lubbock.  He graduated from Texas Tech University in December, 2004 with a degree in Finance and General Business.  Prior to moving to Mountain Home, he was a youth worker at First Baptist Church in Wolfforth.  Zack and his wife, Rebekah married in July 2009.  He has a love for students and enjoys working with them because he knows students are the future.  Zack wants to disciple the youth to have enough faith to live it out everyday.

 

55+ Minister, Jon Gilbert

Jon serves as 55+ minister(formerly Senior Adult).  Jon and Deanna have lived in the area since 1994.  A native of Florida, Jon is a graduate of Florida State University (B.M.E.) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.S.M., M. Div.)  Jon works with a variety of ministries by and for those who are 55+.  These ministries serve as points of contact for people who need to hear the Gospel and for those who, as followers of Christ, desire to serve Him and to grow into His likeness.

 

Children's Director, Britney Ables

Britney is in charge of the Children's Ministry at East Side.  She is a native of Mountain Home, Arkansas.  She attended Boyce Bible College, which is the undergraduate program of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biblical and Theological studies with an emphasis on church leadership and growth.  Britney's vision is to have a fun, high-energy ministry that encourages kids to come to know Jesus Christ personally.  She has a passion for working with kids and is excited to see what God has planned for the Children's Ministry at East Side Baptist Church!!
